COMMUNION

OLD CUP LOT IN LIFE

Isa 51:17 So wake up! Rub the sleep from your eyes! Up on your feet, Jerusalem! You've drunk the cup GOD handed you, the strong drink of his anger. You drank it down to the last drop, staggered and collapsed, dead-drunk.

"This cup of suffering"

Jer 25:15 This is a Message that the GOD of Israel gave me: "Take this cup filled with the wine of my wrath that I'm handing to you. Make all the nations where I send you drink it down.

JESUS CUP

Matt 26:42 He then left them a second time. Again he prayed, "My Father, if there is no other way than this, drinking this cup to the dregs, I'm ready. Do it your way."

NEW CUP FOR US NOW

Luke 22:20He did the same with the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant written in my blood, blood poured out for you.

1 Cor 11:25After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me. KJV

1 Cor 10:16The cup of blessing [of wine at the Lord's Supper] upon which we ask [God's] blessing, does it not mean [that in drinking it] we participate in and share a fellowship (a communion) in the blood of Christ (the Messiah)? The bread which we break, does it not mean [that in eating it] we participate in and share a fellowship (a communion) in the body of Christ?

17 For we [no matter how] numerous we are, are one body, because we all partake of the one Bread [the one Whom the communion bread represents].

↕↕↕

1 Cor 10:16When we drink the cup of blessing, aren't we taking into ourselves the blood, the very life, of Christ? And isn't it the same with the loaf of bread we break and eat? Don't we take into ourselves the body, the very life, of Christ?

BREAD

Isa 30:20 And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide Himself any more, but your eyes will constantly behold your Teacher.

Deut 16:3 You shall eat not leavened bread with it; for seven days you shall eat it with unleavened bread, the bread of affliction--for you fled from the land of Egypt in haste--that all the days of your life you may [earnestly] remember the day when you came out of Egypt. OUR MEALTHEN-SUFFERING, WRATH, ADVERSITY, AFFLICTION

NEW BREAD JESUS

John 6:35Jesus replied, I am the Bread of Life. He who comes to Me will never be hungry, and he who believes in and cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me will never thirst any more (at any time).

John 6:48I am the Bread of Life [that gives life--the Living Bread].

Ex 25:30 And you shall set the showbread (the bread of the Presence) on the table before Me always. EMMAUAL

1 Cor 11:27Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.

28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.

30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.

31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. KJV

DISCERN- If we get this straight now, we won't have to be straightened out later

if we discerned ourselves;" examined and formed a right estimate.

The Four Cups of wine used in the Passover to symbolize the four distinct redemptions promised by God

(1) "I will take you out of Egypt",

(2) "I will deliver you from slavery",

(3) "I will redeem you with a demonstration of my power",

(4) "I will acquire you".

Luke 22:19 Then He took a loaf [of bread], and when He had given thanks, He broke [it] and gave it to them saying, This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.

20 And in like manner, He took the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the new testament or covenant [ratified] in My blood, which is shed (poured out) for you. AMP

REMEMBRANCE-Animal sacrifices made one remember sin but now putting in our mind Jesus

Mary

Prov 13:12 Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when the desire is fulfilled, it is a tree of life. AMP

Prov 13:12 Unrelenting disappointment leaves you heartsick, but a sudden good break can turn life around. MSG

Gen 15:2-3 And Abram said, Lord God, what can You give me, since I am going on [from this world] childless and he who shall be the owner and heir of my house is this [steward] Eliezer of Damascus?

3 And Abram continued, Look, You have given me no child; and [a servant] born in my house is my heir. AMP

↕↕↕

Gen 15:2 Abram said, "God, Master, what use are your gifts as long as I'm childless and Eliezer of Damascus is going to inherit everything?"

3 Abram continued, "See, you've given me no children, and now a mere house servant is going to get it all." MSG

Ps 42:1 AS THE hart pants and longs for the water brooks, so I pant and long for You, O God.

2 My inner self thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and behold the face of God?

3 My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, Where is your God? AMP

↕↕↕

Ps 42:1 A white-tailed deer drinks from the creek; I want to drink God, deep draughts of God.

2 I'm thirsty for God-alive. I wonder, "Will I ever make it arrive and drink in God's presence?"

3 I'm on a diet of tears tears for breakfast, tears for supper. All day long people knock at my door, Pestering, "Where is this God of yours?" MSG

1 Chron 29:28 He died in a good old age [his seventy-first year], full and satisfied with days, riches, and honor. Solomon his son reigned in his stead. AMP

↕↕↕

1 Chron 29:28 He died at a ripe old age, full of days, wealth, and glory. His son Solomon ruled after him. MSG

Luke 24:17 And He said to them, What is this discussion that you are exchanging (throwing back and forth) between yourselves as you walk along? And they stood still, looking sad and downcast.

18 Then one of them, named Cleopas, answered Him, Do you alone dwell as a stranger in Jerusalem and not know the things that have occurred there in these days?

19 And He said to them, What [kind of ] things? And they said to Him, About Jesus of Nazareth, Who was a Prophet mighty in work and word before God and all the people

20 And how our chief priests and rulers gave Him up to be sentenced to death, and crucified Him.

21 But we were hoping that it was He Who would redeem and set Israel free. Yes, and besides all this, it is now the third day since these things occurred. AMP

↕↕↕

Luke 24:17 He asked, "What's this you're discussing so intently as you walk along?"

They just stood there, long-faced, like they had lost their best friend.

18 Then one of them, his name was Cleopas, said, "Are you the only one in Jerusalem who hasn't heard what's happened during the last few days?"

19 He said, "What has happened?" They said, "The things that happened to Jesus the Nazarene. He was a man of God, a prophet, dynamic in work and word, blessed by both God and all the people.

20 Then our high priests and leaders betrayed him, got him sentenced to death, and crucified him.

21 And we had our hopes up that he was the One, the One about to deliver Israel. And it is now the third day since it happened. MSG

Rev 22:1 THEN HE showed me the river whose waters give life, sparkling like crystal, flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb

2 Through the middle of the broadway of the city; also, on either side of the river was the tree of life with its twelve varieties of fruit, yielding each month its fresh crop; and the leaves of the tree were for the healing and the restoration of the nations.

3 There shall no longer exist there anything that is accursed (detestable, foul, offensive, impure, hateful, or horrible). But the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall worship Him [pay divine honors to Him and do Him holy service].

4 They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. AMP

↕↕↕

Rev 22:1 Then the Angel showed me Water-of-Life River, crystal bright. It flowed from the Throne of God and the Lamb,

2 right down the middle of the street. The Tree of Life was planted on each side of the River, producing twelve kinds of fruit, a ripe fruit each month. The leaves of the Tree are for healing the nations.

3 Never again will anything be cursed. The Throne of God and of the Lamb is at the center. His servants will offer God service worshiping,

4 they'll look on his face, their foreheads mirroring God. MSG
