In the midst of all that is going on in our nation, the body of Christ, and in the world, the best we can be these days is to be imitators of Christ. Imitate means to follow to behave like someone to have the same behavior. When Jesus called the disciples to follow him he did not mean they were to go where he went but called them to be like him in the world. The government or the kingdom that Jesus invited us to was to have authority over storms. Everyone is welcome to answer the call and be an imitator of Jesus. The big difference in following doctrines of men and imitating Jesus is a difference between religion and relationship we are not imitators of the world but imitators of Jesus.

Eph 5:1 THEREFORE BE imitators of God [copy Him and follow His example], as well-beloved children [imitate their father].

2 And walk in love, [esteeming and delighting in one another] as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a slain offering and sacrifice to God [for you, so that it became] a sweet fragrance. AMP


Eph 5:1 Watch what God does, and then you do it, like children who learn proper behavior from their parents.

2 Mostly what God does is love you. Keep company with him and learn a life of love. Observe how Christ loved us. His love was not cautious but extravagant. He didn't love in order to get something from us but to give everything of himself to us. Love like that. MSG


EPH 5:1 Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your Father as his beloved sons and daughters. TPT


Eph 5:1 Mirror God; you are his offspring.

2 This is how; let the love of Christ be your life; remember how he abandoned himself to us. His love is contagious, not reluctant but extravagant. Sacrificial love pleases God like the sweet aroma of worship. Mirror

3 John 11 Beloved, do not imitate evil, but imitate good. He who does good is of God; he who does evil has not seen (discerned or experienced) God [has enjoyed no vision of Him and does not know Him at all]. AMP


3 John 1:11 Friend, don't go along with evil. Model the good. The person who does good does God's work. The person who does evil falsifies God, doesn't know the first thing about God. MSG


3 JN 1:11 Delightfully loved ones, dont imitate what is evil, but imitate that which is good. Whoever does good is of God; whoever does evil has not seen God. TPT

1 John 3:2 Oh, dear children of mine (forgive the affection of an old man!), have you realised it? Here and now we are God's children. We don't know what we shall become in the future. We only know that, if reality were to break through, we should reflect his likeness, for we should see him as he really is! PHILLIPS

John 8:12 Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not be walking in the dark, but will have the Light which is Life. AMP


John 8:12 Jesus once again addressed them: "I am the world's Light. No one who follows me stumbles around in the darkness. I provide plenty of light to live in." MSG


JOHN 8:12 Then Jesus said, I am light to the world and those who embrace me will experience life-giving light, and they will neve walk in darkness.TPT

Matt 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden.

15 Nor do men light a lamp and put it under a peck measure, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. AMP


Matt 5:14 "Here's another way to put it: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We're going public with this, as public as a city on a hill.

15 If I make you light-bearers, you don't think I'm going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I'm putting you on a light stand. MSG

Matt 4:19 And He said to them, Come after Me [as disciples letting Me be your Guide], follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men!

20 At once they left their nets and became His disciples [sided with His party and followed Him]. AMP


Matt 4:19 Jesus said to them, "Come with me. I'll make a new kind of fisherman out of you. I'll show you how to catch men and women instead of perch and bass."

20 They didn't ask questions, but simply dropped their nets and followed. MSG

Matt 8:22 But Jesus said to him, Follow Me, and leave the dead [in sin] to bury their own dead.

23 And after He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.

24 And suddenly, behold, there arose a violent storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered up by the waves; but He was sleeping.

25 And they went and awakened Him, saying, Lord, rescue and preserve us! We are perishing!

26 And He said to them, Why are you timid and afraid, O you of little faith? Then He got up and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great and wonderful calm (a perfect peaceableness). AMP

Matt 16:24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also]. AMP


MATT 16:24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, If you truly want to follow me, you should at once completely reject and disown your own life. And you must be willing to share my cross and experience it as your own, as you continually surrender to my ways.TPT

Mark 2:14 And as He was passing by, He saw Levi (Matthew) son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, Follow Me! [Be joined to Me as a disciple, side with My party!] And he arose and joined Him as His disciple and sided with His party and accompanied Him. AMP


MARK 2:14 As he walked along, he found Levi, the son of Alphaeus, sitting at the tax booth, collecting taxes. He approached him and said, Come follow me. Immediately he got up from his booth and began to follow Jesus. TPT

Luke 18:42 And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight! Your faith (your trust and confidence that spring from your faith in God) has healed you.

43 And instantly he received his sight and began to follow Jesus, recognizing, praising, and honoring God; and all the people, when they saw it, praised God. AMP

John 12:26 If anyone serves Me, he must continue to follow Me [to cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying] and wherever I am, there will My servant be also. If anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him. AMP


JOHN 12:26 If you want to be my disciple, follow me and you will go where I am going. And if you truly follow me as my disciple, the Father will shower his favor upon your life. TPT

1 Cor 4:16 So I urge and implore you, be imitators of me. AMP


1 COR 4:16 So I encourage you, my children, to follow the example that I live before you. TPT


1Cor 4:16 I therefore summon you urgently to mirror my message. Mirror

1 Cor 11:1 PATTERN YOURSELVES after me [follow my example], as I imitate and follow Christ (the Messiah). AMP


1 Cor 11:1. Mirror me as I mirror Christ. Mirror Jesus is not an example for us but of us!

Col 2:18 Let no one defraud you by acting as an umpire and declaring you unworthy and disqualifying you for the prize, insisting on self-abasement and worship of angels, taking his stand on visions [he claims] he has seen, vainly puffed up by his sensuous notions and inflated by his unspiritual thoughts and fleshly conceit,

19 And not holding fast to the Head, from Whom the entire body, supplied and knit together by means of its joints and ligaments, grows with a growth that is from God.

20 If then you have died with Christ to material ways of looking at things and have escaped from the world's crude and elemental notions and teachings of externalism, why do you live as if you still belong to the world? [Why do you submit to rules and regulations? such as]

21 Do not handle [this], Do not taste [that], Do not even touch [them],

22 Referring to things all of which perish with being used. To do this is to follow human precepts and doctrines.

23 Such [practices] have indeed the outward appearance [that popularly passes] for wisdom, in promoting self-imposed rigor of devotion and delight in self-humiliation and severity of discipline of the body, but they are of no value in checking the indulgence of the flesh (the lower nature). [Instead, they do not honor God but serve only to indulge the flesh.] AMP


COL 2:18 Dont let anyone disqualify you from your prize! Dont let their pretended sincerity fool you as they deliberately lead you into their initiation of angel worship. For they take pleasure in pretending to be experts of something they know nothing about. Their reasoning is meaningless and comes only from their own opinions.

19They refuse to take hold of the true source. But we receive directly from him, and his life supplies vitality into every part of his body through the joining ligaments connecting us all as one. He is the divine Head who guides his body and causes it to grow by the supernatural power of God.

20For you were included in the death of Christ and have died with him to the religious system and powers of this world. Dont retreat back to being bullied by the standards and opinions of religion

21for example, their strict requirements, You cant associate with that person! or, Dont eat that! or, You cant touch that!

22These are the doctrines of men and corrupt customs that are worthless to help you spiritually.

23For though they may appear to possess the promise of wisdom in their submission to God through the deprivation of their physical bodies, it is actually nothing more than empty rules rooted in religious rituals! TPT


Col 2:18 So do not let anyone who tries to act as an umpire for your devotion insist on his own opinion, confined to a mind inflated by the sensational and spooky; his so-called visions are just a puff of hot air.

19 Such Religious jargon is completely out of rhythm with the head. You are directly connected to Christ was like a choir conductor draws out the music and everyone like a tapestry of art that intertwines in harmony to reveal the full stature of the divine inspiration.

20 If It is true that you were included in Christ death, then the religious system of this world with its rules and regulations no longer apply to you. What further relevance would there be for you to continue to live under the influence of mans doctrines and ideas?

21 Things like; do not associate with this one! or do not taste that! And do not even touch this with your finger!

22 These instructions are of no permanent value in any case since they refer to things at perish after it its consume, thus they leave no lasting impact on your life. So do not let mans menus Cause you to major on minors.

  1. Religious tradition appears to be very devout and its followers seem to be so humble and holy in their strict observance of rules that seek to control the behavior of the body. The only problem with this is it the flesh is never permanently satisfied. Mirror

1 John 4:17 In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world. AMP


1 John 4:17 This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we're free of worry on Judgment Day our standing in the world is identical with Christ's. MSG


1 JN 4:17 By living in God, love has been brought to its full expression in us so that we may fearlessly face the day of judgment, because all that Jesus now is, so are we in this world. TPT


1 John 4:17 God is love, and the man whose life is lived in love does, in fact, live in God, and God does, in fact, live in him. So our love for him grows more and more, filling us with complete confidence for the day when he shall judge all men - for we realise that our life in this world is actually his life lived in us.
