WISDOM by Mary Dorian  4-23-21

James 3:13 Who is there among you who is wise and intelligent? Then let him by his noble living show forth his [good] works with the [unobtrusive] humility [which is the proper attribute] of true wisdom.

14 But if you have bitter jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry, selfish ambition) in your hearts, do not pride yourselves on it and thus be in defiance of and false to the Truth.

15 This [superficial] wisdom is not such as comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual (animal), even devilish (demoniacal).

16 For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition), there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices.

17 But the wisdom from above is first of all pure (undefiled); then it is peace-loving, courteous (considerate, gentle). [It is willing to] yield to reason, full of compassion and good fruits; it is wholehearted and straightforward, impartial and unfeigned (free from doubts, wavering, and insincerity).

18 And the harvest of righteousness (of conformity to God's will in thought and deed) is [the fruit of the seed] sown in peace by those who work for and make peace [in themselves and in others, that peace which means concord, agreement, and harmony between individuals, with undisturbedness, in a peaceful mind free from fears and agitating passions and moral conflicts]. James 3:13-18 Do you want to be counted wise, to build a reputation for wisdom? Here's what you do: Live well, live wisely, live humbly. It's the way you live, not the way you talk, that counts.

14 Mean-spirited ambition isn't wisdom. Boasting that you are wise isn't wisdom. Twisting the truth to make yourselves sound wise isn't wisdom.

15 It's the furthest thing from wisdom it's animal cunning, devilish conniving. 16 Whenever you're trying to look better than others or get the better of others, things fall apart and everyone ends up at the others' throats.

17 Real wisdom, God's wisdom, begins with a holy life and is characterized by getting along with others. It is gentle and reasonable, overflowing with mercy and blessings, not hot one day and cold the next, not two-faced.

18 You can develop a healthy, robust community that lives right with God and enjoy its results only if you do the hard work of getting along with each other, treating each other with dignity and honor.  MSG

James 1:5 The only thing you could possibly lack is wisdom. However, make your request in such a way that you draw directly from the source. God is the origin and the author of wisdom; he intertwined your thoughts with good judgment. His gifts are available to all, without regret. Mirror

James 1:5 If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. AMP

Col 2:3 In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom (comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden.

4 I say this in order that no one may mislead and delude you by plausible and persuasive and attractive arguments and beguiling speech.  AMP

Col 2:3 All the richest treasures of wisdom and knowledge are embedded in that mystery and nowhere else. And we've been shown the mystery!

4 I'm telling you this because I don't want anyone leading you off on some wild-goose chase, after other so-called mysteries, or "the Secret."

5 I'm a long way off, true, and you may never lay eyes on me, but believe me, I'm on your side, right beside you. I am delighted to hear of the careful and orderly ways you conduct your affairs, and impressed with the solid substance of your faith in Christ.   MSG

COL 2 :3 Everything that could possibly define our wealth is 1hidden in him. In Christ the complete

4 I want to say it with such clarity that no one will be able to lead you to an inferior conclusion by bending your mind with clever words. (Any message that would divert from the revelation of the mystery of Christ in you is founded in error.) MIRROR

ROM 11:33-36   I am overwhelmed by the limitless extent of the wealth of Gods wisdom and the perfection of his knowledge. How we have failed to explore or fathom the conclusion of his resolve! In our clumsy efforts to find him, we have completely lost track of God.

34 Who inspired his thought? Who sat in council with him?

35 Is God indebted to anyone?

36 Everything originates in him; finds both its authentic expression and ultimate conclusion in him. His opinion rules the ages. We cannot but agree with our yes and awe. Amen.  MIRROR

James 3:13-18 If you consider yourself to be wise and one who understands the ways of God, advertise it with a beautiful, fruitfullife guided by wisdoms gentleness. Never brag or boast about what youve done and youll prove that youre truly wise.

14 But if there is bitter jealousy or competition hiding in your heart, then dont deny it and try to compensate for it by boasting and being phony.

15 For that has nothing to do with Gods heavenly wisdom but can best be described as the wisdom of this world, both selfishand devilish.

16 So wherever jealousyand selfishness are uncovered, you will also find many troublesand every kind of meanness.

17 But the wisdom from above is always pure, filled with peace, considerate and teachable  It is filled with loveand never displays prejudice or hypocrisy[i] in any form

18 and it always bears the beautiful harvest of righteousness! Good seeds of wisdoms fruit will be planted with peaceful acts by those who cherish making peace. TPT

Romans 11:33-36 Who could ever wrap their minds around the riches of God, the depth of his wisdom, and the marvel of his perfect knowledge? Who could ever explain the wonder of his decisionsor search out the mysterious way he carries out his plans?

34 For who has discovered how the Lord thinks or is wise enough to be the one
to advise him in his plans?

35 Or: Who has ever first given something to God that obligates God to owe him something in return?

36 For out of him, the sustainer of everything, came everything, and now everything finds fulfillment in him. May all praise and honor be given to him forever! Amen!  TPT

1 Corth 1:20-25 So where is the wise philosopher who understands? Where is the expert scholar who comprehends? And where is the skilled debater of our time who could win a debate with God? Hasnt God demonstrated that the wisdom of this world system is utter foolishness?

21 For in his wisdom, God designed that all the worlds wisdom would be insufficient to lead people to the discovery of himself. He took great delight in baffling the wisdom of the world by using the simplicity of preaching the story of the crossin order to save those who believe it.

22 For the Jews constantly demand to see miraculous signs, while those who are not Jewsconstantly cling to the worlds wisdom,

23 but we preach the crucified Messiah. The Jews stumble over him and the rest of the world sees him as foolishness.

24 But for those who have been chosen to follow him, both Jews and Greeks, he is Gods mighty power, Gods true wisdom, and our Messiah.

25 For the foolish things of God have proven to be wiser than human wisdom. And the feeble things of God have proven to be far more powerful than any human ability. TPT

1 Corth 1:30-31  Of Gods doing are we in Christ. He is both the genesis and genius of our wisdom; a wisdom that reveals how righteous, sanctified and redeemed we already are in him.

31  He is our claim to fame.  Mirror

1 Corth 1:30-31 For it is not from man that we draw our life but from God as we are being joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. And now he is our God-given wisdom, our virtue, our holiness, and our redemption. 31 And this fulfills what is written: If anyone boasts, let him only boast in all that the Lord has done! TPT

1 Corth 2:1-9  My brothers and sisters, when I first came to proclaim to you the secretsof God, I refused to come as an expert, trying to impress you with my eloquent speech and lofty wisdom.

For while I was with you I was determined to be consumed with one topicJesus, the crucified Messiah.

I stood before you feeling inadequate, filled with reverence for God, and trembling under the sense of the importance of my words.

The message I preached and how I preached it was not an attempt to sway you with persuasive arguments but to prove to you the almighty power of Gods Holy Spirit.

For God intended that your faith not be established on mans wisdom but by trusting in his almighty power.

Wisdom from God

However, there is a wisdom that we continually speak of when we are among the spiritually mature. Its wisdom that didnt originate in this present age, nor did it come from the rulers of this age who are in the process of being dethroned. Instead, wecontinually speak of this wonderful wisdom that comes from God, hidden before now in a mystery.[ It is his secret plan, destinedbefore the ages, to bring us into glory.

None of the rulers of this present world order understood it, for if they had, they never would have crucified the Lord of shining glory.

This is why the Scriptures say: Things never discovered or heard of before, things beyond our ability to imagine these are the many things God has in store for all his lovers.  TPT

2 Cor 2:12-13 Now when I arrived at Troas [to preach] the good news (the Gospel) of Christ, a door of opportunity was opened for me in the Lord,

13 Yet my spirit could not rest (relax, get relief) because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I took leave from them and departed for Macedonia.  AMP

Prov 14:8 The Wisdom [godly Wisdom, which is comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God] of the prudent is to understand his way, but the folly of [self-confident] fools is to deceive. AMP

Prov 24:3- 7 Wise people are builders[--they build families, businesses, communities. And through intelligence and insight  their enterprises are established and endure.
Because of their skilled leadership, the heartsof people are filled with the treasures of wisdom and the pleasures of spiritual wealth.
Wisdom can make anyone into a mighty warrior, and revelation-knowledge increases strength.
Wise strategy is necessary to wage war, and with many astute advisers youll see the path to victory more clearly.
Wisdom is a treasure too lofty for a quarreling fool--hell have nothing to say when leaders gather together. TPT

Prov 28:26 Self-confident know-it-alls[a] will prove to be fools. But when you lean on the wisdom from above, you will have a way to escape the troubles of your own making. TPT

Jer 9:23-24  Thus says the Lord: Let not the wise and skillful person glory and boast in his wisdom and skill; let not the mighty and powerful person glory and boast in his strength and power; let not the person who is rich [in physical gratification and earthly wealth] glory and boast in his [temporal satisfactions and earthly] riches;

24 But let him who glories glory in this: that he understands and knows Me [personally and practically, directly discerning and recognizing My character], that I am the Lord, Who practices loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth, for in these things I delight, says the Lord.  AMP
