BAPTISM 5-14-23  VIDEO fire

Baptism is more than just repentance. Its a change from the old life into a brand new one. Jesus throughout His ministry on earth made that possible for all who would believe in Him. Pharisees tried to stir up conflict about baptism, but Jesus would not be involved. A baptism of fire was demonstrated on the day of Pentecost. Baptism is an important first step in becoming new in Christ. The disciples baptized a lot of people.

Luke 12:50 I have a baptism with which to be baptized, and how greatly and sorely I am urged on (impelled, constrained) until it is accomplished! AMP

Luke 12:50 I've come to change everything, turn everything rightside up how I long for it to be finished!  MSG

LUKE 12:50 I have a baptism to be baptized with; and oh, how intensely I anticipate its mirror-resonance to be fully realized!  MIRROR

Luke 3:2 during the Chief-Priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas John, Zachariah's son, out in the desert at the time, received a message from God.

3 He went all through the country around the Jordan River preaching a baptism of life-change leading to forgiveness of sins,   MSG

LUKE 3:15  The people were intrigued and wondered whether John perhaps, was the Messiah.

16 John answered, I symbolically immerse you in water but one, superior to me is about to come; he will immerse you in Spirit and in fire! My baptism is preparing the way for him; I am not here to distract from him in any way, or to make a name for myself! I do not even qualify to be the slave that unties his sandals!

17 With his winnowing shovel, he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing-floor with his own hands and gather the wheat into his granary. And he will burn the chaff with unquenchable fire.

18 And so, with many more words of encouragement John continued to proclaim these amazing good tidings of mankinds redeemed identity and innocence, to the crowds.  MIRROR

Luke 3:15 During those days, everyone was gripped with messianic expectations, believing the Messiah could come at any moment, and many began to wonder if John might be the Christ.

16But John made it clear by telling them, There is one coming who is mightier than I. He is supreme. In fact, I'm not worthy of even being his slave. I can only baptize you in this river, but he will baptize you into the Spirit of holiness and into his raging fire.

17He has in his hands a winnowing fork to clean up his threshing floor! He will separate the wheat from the chaff. The wheat he will gather into his barn, but he will burn the chaff in a fire that no one can ever put out!

18John used many similar warnings as he preached the good news and prepared the people.  TPT

John 4:1 NOW WHEN the Lord knew (learned, became aware) that the Pharisees had been told that Jesus was winning and baptizing more disciples than John

2 Though Jesus Himself did not baptize, but His disciples

3 He left Judea and returned to Galilee.  AMP

1 COR 1:13  This is really ridiculous: can Christ be cut up into little relics? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into Pauls name?

14 Baptism is not my business or emphasis; I am glad that I only baptized Crispus and Gaius amongst you!

15 I distance myself from the idea of employing baptism as a means of branding my ministry with my name! Somehow baptism has become a snare to some who wish to win members to their denomination!

16 Oh yes! Now I remember that I also baptized the family of Stephanus.

17 My mandate was not about winning members for some Christian club through baptism! I am commissioned to declare the Good News without any strings attached; nothing to distract from the powerful effect of the revelation of the cross of Christ. MIRROR

Rom 6:3 Are you ignorant of the fact that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death?

4 We were buried therefore with Him by the baptism into death, so that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious [power] of the Father, so we too might [habitually] live and behave in newness of life.

5 For if we have become one with Him by sharing a death like His, we shall also be [one with Him in sharing] His resurrection [by a new life lived for God].  AMP

↕↕↕

ROM 6:3 What are we saying then in baptism, if we are not declaring that we understand our union with Christ in his death?

4 Baptism pictures how we were co-buried together with Christ in his death; then it powerfully illustrates how in Gods mind we were co-raised with Christ into a new lifestyle.

5 We were like seeds planted together in the same soil, to be co-quickened to life. If we were included in his death we are equally included in his resurrection.  MIRROR

Acts 2:1On the day Pentecost was being fulfilled, all the disciples were gathered in one place.

2Suddenly they heard the sound of a violent blast of wind rushing into the house from out of the heavenly realm. The roar of the wind was so overpowering it was all anyone could bear!

3Then all at once a pillar of fire appeared before their eyes. It separated into tongues of fire that engulfed each one of them.

4They were all filled and equipped with the Holy Spirit and were inspired to speak in tonguesempowered by the Spirit to speak in languages they had never learned!

5Now, at that time there were Jewish worshipers who had emigrated from many different lands to live in Jerusalem.

6When the people of the city heard the roaring sound, crowds came running to where it was coming from, stunned over what was happening, because each one could hear the disciples speaking in his or her own language.

7Bewildered, they said to one another, Aren't these all Galileans?  TPT

1 Cor 12:13 By means of his one Spirit, we all said good-bye to our partial and piecemeal lives. We each used to independently call our own shots, but then we entered into a large and integrated life in which he has the final say in everything. (This is what we proclaimed in word and action when we were baptized.) Each of us is now a part of his resurrection body, refreshed and sustained at one fountain his Spirit where we all come to drink. The old labels we once used to identify ourselves labels like Jew or Greek, slave or free are no longer useful. We need something larger, more comprehensive.  MSG

Eph 4:5 You have one Master, one faith, one baptism,

6 one God and Father of all, who rules over all, works through all, and is present in all. Everything you are and think and do is permeated with Oneness. MSG

Col 2:12 If it's an initiation ritual you're after, you've already been through it by submitting to baptism. Going under the water was a burial of your old life; coming up out of it was a resurrection, God raising you from the dead as he did Christ.

13 When you were stuck in your old sin-dead life, you were incapable of responding to God. God brought you alive right along with Christ! Think of it! All sins forgiven,

14 the slate wiped clean, that old arrest warrant canceled and nailed to Christ's Cross. MSG

1 Peter 3:20 [The souls of those] who long before in the days of Noah had been disobedient, when God's patience waited during the building of the ark in which a few [people], actually eight in number, were saved through water.

21 And baptism, which is a figure [of their deliverance], does now also save you [from inward questionings and fears], not by the removing of outward body filth [bathing], but by [providing you with] the answer of a good and clear conscience (inward cleanness and peace) before God [because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. AMP

↕↕↕

1 Peter 3:20 because they wouldn't listen. You know, even though God waited patiently all the days that Noah built his ship, only a few were saved then, eight to be exact saved from the water by the water.

21 The waters of baptism do that for you, not by washing away dirt from your skin but by presenting you through Jesus' resurrection before God with a clear conscience.  MSG ?

1 PET 3:20 His audience included all who died in unbelief, in the days of Noah when he built the Ark! Jesus is the extension of the patience of God, who waited for mankind at a time when only 8 survived the flood! There is a new baptism! Immersed in his death and co-quickened in his resurrection, mankind once dead and drowned are now made alive and crowned! MIRROR

1 John 5:6 Jesus the Divine Christ! He experienced a life-giving birth and a death-killing death. Not only birth from the womb, but baptismal birth of his ministry and sacrificial death. And all the while the Spirit is confirming the truth, the reality of God's presence at Jesus' baptism and crucifixion, bringing those occasions alive for us.

7 A triple testimony:  MSG

 ↕↕↕

1 JN 5:6 This is he who was to come; he arrived in the flesh via his mothers womb - by water and blood - Jesus Christ. And in his ministry as the Christ, he was not only borne witness to by John the Baptist  in the prophetic baptism of water, but he went all the way into his baptism of death, in his shed blood, where he died mankinds death. And it is the Spirit that bears witness according to her own being, which is truth!

7 There are three witnesses,  MIRROR

Acts 1:5 For John baptized with water, but not many days from now you shall be baptized with (placed in, introduced into) the Holy Spirit. AMP

Acts 2:38  And Peter answered them, Repent (change your views and purpose to accept the will of God in your inner selves instead of rejecting it) and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of and release from your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

39 For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to and for you and your children, and to and for all that are far away, [even] to and for as many as the Lord our God invites and bids to come to Himself.

40 And [Peter] solemnly and earnestly witnessed (testified) and admonished (exhorted) with much more continuous speaking and warned (reproved, advised, encouraged) them, saying, Be saved from this crooked (perverse, wicked, unjust) generation.

41 Therefore those who accepted and welcomed his message were baptized, and there were added that day about 3,000 souls.  AMP

Acts 8:36 And as they continued along on the way, they came to some water, and the eunuch exclaimed, See, [here is] water! What is to hinder my being baptized?

37 And Philip said, If you believe with all your heart [if you have a conviction, full of joyful trust, that Jesus is the Messiah and accept Him as the Author of your salvation in the kingdom of God, giving Him your obedience, then] you may. And he replied, I do believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

38 And he ordered that the chariot be stopped; and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and [Philip] baptized him.

39 And when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord [suddenly] caught away Philip; and the eunuch saw him no more, and he went on his way rejoicing.

Acts 18:8 But Crispus, the leader of the synagogue, believed [that Jesus is the Messiah and acknowledged Him with joyful trust as Savior and Lord], together with his entire household; and many of the Corinthians who listened [to Paul also] believed and were baptized.  AMP

Acts 22:16 And now, why do you delay? Rise and be baptized, and by calling upon His name, wash away your sins. AMP

Gal 3:27 Your baptism in Christ was not just washing you up for a fresh start. It also involved dressing you in an adult faith wardrobe Christ's life, the fulfillment of God's original promise. MSG ↕↕↕
