Today we celebrate as a nation our freedom. Freedom to be able to speak and act according to our values and beliefs. Through our history, we’ve been a free nation. Many people have sacrificed their lives for freedom. For us who know Jesus, we remember today as freedom that was purchased by His blood. We as a nation are called to be a light of the world of our freedom. We use our freedom to set the captives free.
ISA 61:1 The mighty Spirit of Lord Yahweh is wrapped around me because Yahweh has anointed me, as a messenger to preach good news to the poor. He sent me to heal the wounds of the brokenhearted, to tell captives, “You are free,” and to tell prisoners, “Be free from your darkness.” TPT
ISA 49:9 You will declare to prisoners, ‘You’re free!’ and to those in darkness, ‘Step out into the light!’ They will be like sheep that graze beside the roads and find pasture on the barren hillside. TPT
Rom 6:19 I’m using this freedom language because it’s easy to picture. You can readily recall, can’t you, how at one time the more you did just what you felt like doing — not caring about others, not caring about God — the worse your life became and the less freedom you had? And how much different is it now as you live in God’s freedom, your lives healed and expansive in holiness?
