BEING A PERSON OF REST 9-28-13  VIDEO ONE OUTTA 7

Lam 5:5  Our pursuers are upon our necks [like a yoke]; we are weary and are allowed no rest.  AMP

YOKE-Put to flight, follow (after, on), hunt, (be under) persecute. Bondage

REST-“To rest” sometimes indicates a complete envelopment and thus permeation, as in the spirit of Elijah “resting” on Elisha, the hand of God “resting” on the mountain,  and when Wisdom “resteth in the heart of him that hath understanding”  Frequently means “to be quiet” or “to rest” after hard work, from onslaught of one’s enemies, from trouble

STRIVE-to make effort, earnest: do our utmost we should do our best” or “we should try very hard.” Contend for

REST-perpetual sabbath “rest” to be enjoyed uninterruptedly by believers in their fellowship with the Father and the Son, in contrast to the weekly Sabbath under the Law. Because this sabbath “rest” is the “rest” of God Himself.  Believers now enter into  divine “rest,” that which they enjoy is involved in an indissoluble relation with God. REST=Take ease, refresh, (give, take) rest keep quiet, of calm and patient expectation, to recover and collect his strength to refresh himself”  –cessation from human labors, refreshment, rest”. The contrast seems to be to the burdens imposed by the Pharisees. Christ’s “rest” is not a “rest” from work, but in work, “not the rest of inactivity but of the harmonious working of all the faculties and affections– of will, heart Internal rest

Matt 11:29 Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am gentle (meek) and humble (lowly) in heart, and you will find rest (relief and ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet) for your souls.

30 For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good — not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne.  AMP

↕↕↕

Matt 11:29 Walk with me and work with me — watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you.

Matt 11:30  Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.”  MSG

Ps 81:6 “I took the world off your shoulders, reed you from a life of hard labor.

Isa 9:6 For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given; and the government shall be upon His shoulder, and His name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father [of Eternity], Prince of Peace.

Ex 33:14  And the Lord said, My Presence shall go with you, and I will give you rest.

Deut 12:10  But when you go over the Jordan and dwell in the land which the Lord your God causes you to inherit, and He gives you rest from all your enemies round about so that you dwell in safety,  AMP ↕↕↕

Deut 12:10  But the minute you cross the Jordan River and settle into the land God, your God, is enabling you to inherit, he’ll give you rest from all your surrounding enemies. You’ll be able to settle down and live in safety. MSG

Mark 2:27  And Jesus said to them, The Sabbath was made on account and for the sake of man, not man for the Sabbath;

28 So the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath. AMP

↕↕↕

Mark 2:27  Then Jesus said, “The Sabbath was made to serve us; we weren’t made to serve the Sabbath.

28 The Son of Man is no lackey to the Sabbath. He’s in charge!” MSG

The sabbath is delivered unto you and ye are not delivered unto the sabbath.” Christianity has had to fight this same battle about INSTITUTIONALISM. The church itself is for man, not man for the church.  The Sabbath for the sake of man came into being, and not man for the sake of the Sabbath.

Mark 3:2 And [the Pharisees] kept watching Jesus [closely] to see whether He would cure him on the Sabbath, so that they might get a charge to bring against Him [formally].

3 And He said to the man who had the withered hand, Get up [and stand here] in the midst.

4 And He said to them, Is it lawful and right on the Sabbath to do good or to do evil, to save life or to take it? But they kept silence.

5 And He glanced around at them with vexation and anger, grieved at the hardening of their hearts, and said to the man, Hold out your hand. He held it out, and his hand was [completely] restored.  AMP

↕↕↕

Mark 3:2 The Pharisees had their eyes on Jesus to see if he would heal him, hoping to catch him in a Sabbath infraction.

3 He said to the man with the crippled hand, “Stand here where we can see you.”

4 Then he spoke to the people: “What kind of action suits the Sabbath best? Doing good or doing evil? Helping people or leaving them helpless?” No one said a word.

5 He looked them in the eye, one after another, angry now, furious at their hard-nosed religion. He said to the man, “Hold out your hand.” He held it out — it was as good as new!  MSG

Mark 3:6 Then the Pharisees went out and immediately held a consultation with the Herodians against Him, how they might [devise some means to] put Him to death.

Luke 13:14 But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, There are six days on which work ought to be done; so come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath day.

15 But the Lord replied to him, saying, You playactors (hypocrites)! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead it out to water it?

16 And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day?  AMP

↕↕↕

Luke 13:14 The meeting-place president, furious because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the congregation, “Six days have been defined as work days. Come on one of the six if you want to be healed, but not on the seventh, the Sabbath.”

15 But Jesus shot back, “You frauds! Each Sabbath every one of you regularly unties your cow or donkey from its stall, leads it out for water, and thinks nothing of it.

16 So why isn’t it all right for me to untie this daughter of Abraham and lead her from the stall where Satan has had her tied these eighteen years?”  MSG

John 5:9 Instantly the man became well and recovered his strength and picked up his bed and walked. But that happened on the Sabbath.

10 So the Jews kept saying to the man who had been healed, It is the Sabbath, and you have no right to pick up your bed [it is not lawful].  AMP

↕↕↕

John 5:9 The man was healed on the spot. He picked up his bedroll and walked off.

That day happened to be the Sabbath.

10 The Jews stopped the healed man and said, “It’s the Sabbath. You can’t carry your bedroll around. It’s against the rules.” MSG

John 5:16  For this reason the Jews began to persecute (annoy, torment) Jesus and sought to kill Him, because He was doing these things on the Sabbath.  AMP

WATERS STIRRED John 5:5 There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years.

6 When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well? [Are you really in earnest about getting well?]

7 The invalid answered, Sir, I have nobody when the water is moving to put me into the pool; but while I am trying to come [into it] myself, somebody else steps down ahead of me.

8 Jesus said to him, Get up! Pick up your bed (sleeping pad) and walk!

9 Instantly the man became well and recovered his strength and picked up his bed and walked. But that happened on the Sabbath . AMP

BLIND John 9:14  Now it was on the Sabbath day that Jesus mixed the mud and opened the man’s eyes. AMP

VIDEO JOHN CROWDER REST 2

2 Chron 15:15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart and sought Him [yearning for Him] with their whole desire, and He was found by them. And the Lord gave them rest and peace round about.  AMP

Est 9:22 As the days on which the Jews got rest from their enemies, and as the month which was turned for them from sorrow to gladness and from mourning into a holiday — that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, days of sending choice portions to one another and gifts to the poor.  AMP

Job 24:23  God gives them security, and they rest on it; and His eyes are upon their ways.  AMP

Ps 16:9 Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my inner self] rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety,  AMP

Ps 37:7  Be still and rest in the Lord; wait for Him and patiently lean yourself upon Him; fret not yourself because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked devices to pass.  AMP

↕↕↕

Ps 37:7  Quiet down before God, be prayerful before him. Don’t bother with those who climb the ladder, who elbow their way to the top. MSG

Ps 55:6  And I say, Oh, that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.

7 Yes, I would wander far away, I would lodge in the wilderness. Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]!  AMP

↕↕↕

Ps 55:6 “Who will give me wings,” I ask —  “wings like a dove?” Get me out of here on dove wings;

7 I want some peace and quiet. I want a walk in the country, MSG

Ps 140:12 I know and rest in confidence upon it that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will secure justice for the poor and needy [of His believing children].

Ps 140:12  I know that you, God, are on the side of victims, that you care for the rights of the poor. MS

Isa 14:3 When God has given you time to recover from the abuse and trouble and harsh servitude that you had to endure,

4 you can amuse yourselves by taking up this satire, a taunt against the king of Babylon: Can you believe it? The tyrant is gone! The tyranny is over!

5 God has broken the rule of the wicked, the power of the bully-rulers

6 That crushed many people. A relentless rain of cruel outrage Established a violent rule of anger rife with torture and persecution.

7 And now it’s over, the whole earth quietly at rest. Burst into song! Make the rafters ring!  MSG

Zeph 3:17  The Lord your God is in the midst of you, a Mighty One, a Savior [Who saves]! He will rejoice over you with joy; He will rest [in silent satisfaction] and in His love He will be silent and make no mention [of past sins, or even recall them]; He will exult over you with singing.  AMP

Mark 6:51 And He went up into the boat with them, and the wind ceased (sank to rest as if exhausted by its own beating). And they were astonished exceedingly [beyond measure],  AMP

Heb 3:19  So we see that they were not able to enter [into His rest], because of their unwillingness to adhere to and trust in and rely on God [unbelief had shut them out].    AMP

Heb 4:1  THEREFORE, WHILE the promise of entering His rest still holds and is offered [today], let us be afraid [to distrust it], lest any of you should think he has come too late and has come short of [reaching] it.  AMP

Heb 4:3  For we who have believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on God) do enter that rest, in accordance with His declaration that those [who did not believe] should not enter when He said, As I swore in My wrath, They shall not enter My rest; and this He said although [His] works had been completed and prepared [and waiting for all who would believe] from the foundation of the world.   AMP

Heb 4:5 And [they forfeited their part in it, for] in this [passage] He said, They shall not enter My rest.

6 Seeing then that the promise remains over [from past times] for some to enter that rest, and that those who formerly were given the good news about it and the opportunity, failed to appropriate it and did not enter because of disobedience,

7 Again He sets a definite day, [a new] Today, [and gives another opportunity of securing that rest] saying through David after so long a time in the words already quoted, Today, if you would hear His voice and when you hear it, do not harden your hearts.

8 [This mention of a rest was not a reference to their entering into Canaan.] For if Joshua had given them rest, He [God] would not speak afterward about another day.

9 So then, there is still awaiting a full and complete Sabbath-rest reserved for the [true] people of God;

10 For he who has once entered [God’s] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own

11 Let us therefore be zealous and exert ourselves and strive diligently to enter that rest [of God, to know and experience it for ourselves], that no one may fall or perish by the same kind of unbelief and disobedience [into which those in the wilderness fell].  AMP

Ps 127:2  It’s useless to rise early and go to bed late, and work your worried fingers to the bone. Don’t you know he enjoys giving rest to those he loves?  MSG
