REAL PRAYER 11-8-13

REAL PRAYER 11-8-13     VIDEO HEIDI BAKER INTIMACY WITH GOD

PRAYER the English word is to beg, In Hebrew it means wholehearted-singleness of mind-focus concentration to God, worship: an orator to  addressed to God:  to bring to, bring near to turn the mind to, attend to, be attentive:  to a person or thing to apply oneself to, attach oneself to, hold or cleave to a person

Heb 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please and be satisfactory to Him. For whoever would come near to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He is the rewarder of those who earnestly and diligently seek Him [out].  AMP

Luke 11:5 Then he said, “Imagine what would happen if you went to a friend in the middle of the night and said, ‘Friend, lend me three loaves of bread.

6 An old friend traveling through just showed up, and I don’t have a thing on hand.’

7 “The friend answers from his bed, ‘Don’t bother me. The door’s locked; my children are all down for the night; I can’t get up to give you anything.’

8 “But let me tell you, even if he won’t get up because he’s a friend, if you stand your ground, knocking and waking all the neighbors, he’ll finally get up and get you whatever you need.

9 “Here’s what I’m saying: Ask and you’ll get; Seek and you’ll find; Knock and the door will open.

10 “Don’t bargain with God. Be direct. Ask for what you need. This is not a cat-and-mouse, hide-and-seek game we’re in.

11 If your little boy asks for a serving of fish, do you scare him with a live snake on his plate?

12 If your little girl asks for an egg, do you trick her with a spider?

13 As bad as you are, you wouldn’t think of such a thing — you’re at least decent to your own children. And don’t you think the Father who conceived you in love will give the Holy Spirit when you ask him?” MSG

Jer 29:13 Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.   AMP

Heb 4:16 Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to help in good time for every need [appropriate help and well-timed help, coming just when we need it].  AMP

↕↕↕

Heb 4:16 So let’s walk right up to him and get what he is so ready to give. Take the mercy, accept the help. MSG

Luke 18:1 ALSO [Jesus] told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not to turn coward (faint, lose heart, and give up).  AMP

↕↕↕

Luke 18:1 Jesus told them a story showing that it was necessary for them to pray consistently and never quit. MSG

HOW NOT TO PRAY Luke 18:10 Two men went up into the temple [enclosure] to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

11 The Pharisee took his stand ostentatiously and began to pray thus before and with himself: God, I thank You that I am not like the rest of men — extortioners (robbers), swindlers [unrighteous in heart and life], adulterers — or even like this tax collector here.

12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I gain.

13 But the tax collector, [merely] standing at a distance, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but kept striking his breast, saying, O God, be favorable (be gracious, be merciful) to me, the especially wicked sinner that I am!

14 I tell you, this man went down to his home justified (forgiven and made upright and in right standing with God), rather than the other man; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but he who humbles himself will be exalted. AMP

↕↕↕

Luke 18:10  “Two men went up to the Temple to pray, one a Pharisee, the other a tax man.

11 The Pharisee posed and prayed like this: ‘Oh, God, I thank you that I am not like other people — robbers, crooks, adulterers, or, heaven forbid, like this tax man.

12 I fast twice a week and tithe on all my income.’

13 “Meanwhile the tax man, slumped in the shadows, his face in his hands, not daring to look up, said, ‘God, give mercy. Forgive me, a sinner.'”

14 Jesus commented, “This tax man, not the other, went home made right with God. If you walk around with your nose in the air, you’re going to end up flat on your face, but if you’re content to be simply yourself, you will become more than yourself.”  MSG

Matt 6:5  Also when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by people. Truly I tell you, they have their reward in full already.  AMP

↕↕↕

Matt 6:5  “And when you come before God, don’t turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat?  MSG

Matt 6:7 And when you pray, do not heap up phrases (multiply words, repeating the same ones over and over) as the Gentiles do, for they think they will be heard for their much speaking.

8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.  AMP      ↕↕↕

Matt 6:7  “The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant. They’re full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God.

8 Don’t fall for that nonsense. This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need. MSG

Heb 5:7 In the days of His flesh [Jesus] offered up definite, special petitions [for that which He not only wanted but needed] and supplications with strong crying and tears to Him Who was [always] able to save Him [out] from death, and He was heard because of His reverence toward God [His godly fear, His piety,  in that He shrank from the horrors of separation from the bright presence of the Father]. VIDEO ONE PRAYER

1 Sam 1:13  Hannah was praying in her heart, silently. Her lips moved, but no sound was heard. Eli jumped to the conclusion that she was drunk.

14 He approached her and said, “You’re drunk! How long do you plan to keep this up? Sober up, woman!”

15 Hannah said, “Oh no, sir — please! I’m a woman hard used. I haven’t been drinking. Not a drop of wine or beer. The only thing I’ve been pouring out is my heart, pouring it out to God. MSG

1 Sam 1:26  Hannah said, “Excuse me, sir. Would you believe that I’m the very woman who was standing before you at this very spot, praying to God?

27 I prayed for this child, and God gave me what I asked for.

28 And now I have dedicated him to God. He’s dedicated to God for life.” Then and there, they worshiped God. MSG

1 Kings 8:52 O be alert and attentive to the needy prayers of me, your servant, and your dear people Israel; listen every time they cry out to you!

53 You handpicked them from all the peoples on earth to be your very own people, as you announced through your servant Moses when you, O God, in your masterful rule, delivered our ancestors from Egypt.

54 Having finished praying to God — all these bold and passionate prayers — Solomon stood up before God’s Altar where he had been kneeling all this time, his arms stretched upward to heaven.

55 Standing, he blessed the whole congregation of Israel, blessing them at the top of his lungs:

56 “Blessed be God, who has given peace to his people Israel just as he said he’d do. Not one of all those good and wonderful words that he spoke through Moses has misfired.

57 May God, our very own God, continue to be with us just as he was with our ancestors — may he never give up and walk out on us.

58 May he keep us centered and devoted to him, following the life path he has cleared, watching the signposts, walking at the pace and rhythms he laid down for our ancestors.

59 “And let these words that I’ve prayed in the presence of God be always right there before him, day and night, so that he’ll do what is right for me, to guarantee justice for his people Israel day after day after day.

60 Then all the people on earth will know God is the true God; there is no other God.

2 Chron 7:1 When Solomon finished praying, a bolt of lightning out of heaven struck the Whole-Burnt-Offering and sacrifices and the Glory of God filled The Temple.

2 The Glory was so dense that the priests couldn’t get in — God so filled The Temple that there was no room for the priests!

3 When all Israel saw the fire fall from heaven and the Glory of God fill The Temple, they fell on their knees, bowed their heads, and worshiped, thanking God: Yes! God is good! His love never quits! MSG

2 Kings 20:2  Hezekiah turned from Isaiah and faced God, praying:

3 Remember, O God, who I am, what I’ve done! I’ve lived an honest life before you,

My heart’s been true and steady, I’ve lived to please you; lived for your approval. And then the tears flowed. Hezekiah wept.

4 Isaiah, leaving, was not halfway across the courtyard when the word of God stopped him:

5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, prince of my people, ‘God’s word, Hezekiah! From the God of your ancestor David: I’ve listened to your prayer and I’ve observed your tears. I’m going to heal you. In three days you will walk on your own legs into The Temple of God.

6 I’ve just added fifteen years to your life; I’m saving you from the king of Assyria, and I’m covering this city with my shield — for my sake and my servant David’s sake.'”

Acts 12:11  That’s when Peter realized it was no dream. “I can’t believe it — this really happened! The Master sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s vicious little production and the spectacle the Jewish mob was looking forward to.”

12 Still shaking his head, amazed, he went to Mary’s house, the Mary who was John Mark’s mother. The house was packed with praying friends.

13 When he knocked on the door to the courtyard, a young woman named Rhoda came to see who it was.

14 But when she recognized his voice — Peter’s voice! — she was so excited and eager to tell everyone Peter was there that she forgot to open the door and left him standing in the street.

15 But they wouldn’t believe her, dismissing her, dismissing her report. “You’re crazy,” they said. She stuck by her story, insisting. They still wouldn’t believe her and said, “It must be his angel.”

16 All this time poor Peter was standing out in the street, knocking away. Finally they opened up and saw him — and went wild!

17 Peter put his hands up and calmed them down. He described how the Master had gotten him out of jail, then said, “Tell James and the brothers what’s happened.” He left them and went off to another place. MSG
